Blue Kite Tuition is a professional agency for bespoke academic tuition

Founded in 2013, in Brighton and Hove, Blue Kite has now supported over 600 families across Sussex, London and internationally.

Our tutors pride themselves on having a personal touch that extends beyond helping to secure top grades and school placements. We understand the immense value of mentoring young people, so that they can achieve their ambitions and grow in confidence. We know how important tutor and pupil relationships can be, and that our tutors should be main figures for support and guidance throughout academic and personal challenges.

By 2023, we have been fortunate enough to set up and managed 74 home schooling programmes varying from 4 weeks to 6 years. Our professional teacher/tutor homeschool experience is unparalleled in Sussex and is still growing each year as more families turn towards alternative education routes.

Our founder, Madelaine Berlin still works closely with all families on the agency’s books, consulting, guiding, managing (and still teaching!). We welcome your call to talk about your child and offer advice to help you with the next steps.

HOURLY TUITION

Hourly Tuition from £60

Our tutors cover a range of academic and vocational courses from 5-18 years.

Hourly tuition is an incredibly popular and effective way of building confidence and improving results in academic subjects. Whether it’s building number skills aged 7, a bespoke interview and Pretest preparation programme or a GCSE English re-sit…we have a tutor that can help!

Hourly tuition takes place in the pupil’s home or a place mutually agreed between parent and tutor. We pride ourselves on providing tutors who have proven success with current assessment bodies and school entry requirements.

Academic assessments are undertaken before assigning a tutor, although pupils are more than welcome to bring recent reports from other agencies or centres.

HOMESCHOOLING

We work on homeschooling projects according to three optional tiers of management. Our three-tiered management is designed to help parents choose how hands-on they want to be with the organisation of their programme. We have some families who have several tutors and practitioners working with them, and others who use one or two of our homeschool teachers to supplement their existing set-up. In our experience, parents can sometimes feel excited by the opportunities that homeschooling can present, but can also feel anxious or unsure about the process.

When done correctly, homeschooling is life changing. Please contact us with any questions on BKT’s approach to happy, effective and meaningful homeschool learning. We love helping and will always assist with sending you in the right ‘next direction’ whether that is with us or elsewhere.

ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT

Academic Assessments are undertaken by our Director Madelaine Berlin or by a specialist consultant tutor. Assessments begins with an initial introduction to establish pupil learning preferences and self-esteem levels. All Blue Kite Academic Assessments are followed with a detailed written report, which independently appraises a pupil’s capabilities and recommends an appropriate course of learning. A more economical form of feedback is via two time-uncapped meetings; this route is preferred by families who do not necessarily need the report’s findings to be viewed by third party professionals (Sencos/LEAs/CAHMS/JCQ).

Our Academic Assessment build a thorough picture of pupil strengths and weaknesses; that goes beyond the standard test papers used at home or in schools. The detail gleamed from these diagnostic assessments helps Blue Kite to make effective pupil and tutor matches. Reports may also help to ascertain whether a pupil needs tuition at all, or can be used as a mark of attainment to inform home help or school transition choices.
